printing on fabric

I am always looking for ways to personalize any project. About a year ago I made some purses for a friend’s bridesmaids. I wanted to give each purse a special touch. I wanted to put each maid’s name label inside the bag. So I tried to print the names on fabric….. and it worked!
After I printed the fabric I ran it under water and used regular hand soap to see if the ink would come off. Nope! Good to go. No bleeding or fading!
Here is want I did…
{What you need}
Freezer paper
Fabric
Scissors
Iron
Printer {I have inkjet}

{What you do}
Cut a piece of freezer paper 8.5x11 so it will fit in your printer.

I placed the freezer paper at a 45 degree angle on the fabric so that when I cut the labels it would be cut on the bias. Not necessary but sometimes I like to leave the edges raw when I sew on a label and its nice to have the bias.

Iron the freezer paper shiny side down.
Cut fabric to size.
Insert fabric in your computer so that it will print on the fabric side.

Using a program create labels or whatever you want to print.

Print out on the fabric.
Take freezer paper off and iron over the print.
Now you have labels for your projects!
