a little love

Spreading a little love throughout the apartment today. Using some old cardboard boxes, yarn and trim I made this lovely LOVE sign for Valentine’s Day.  I love the colors and how it turned out! The E was a little tricky to wrap and doesn’t look very pretty from the back. I used a utility knife to cut out the letters from some old cardboard boxes I had laying around. I glued four layers of cardboard together to get the thickness I wanted. Hot glue, yarn and pink trim and lots of wrapping later ….

And some more love….

Jars! I love jars! I use them to store and organize many things from kitchen utensils, pens and pencils, and now lotion! I made two lotion jars for the bathroom and the kitchen. On one of my bottles of lotion the pump broke so I thought it was a great time to make these.  I needed some lotion in the kitchen too; to soften hands after all that dishwashing. This project came together very quickly! Here’s how…
{What you need}
Mason jars
Pumps from lotion/soap/sanitizer bottles
Drill
Wire cutters

{What you do}
First I used a small drill bit to drill holes in a circle in the middle of the lid. {I left the lid on the jar while I drilled. The jar caught all the debris from drilling so it didn’t get everywhere. Just make sure to wash out the jar before putting in lotion/soap/sanitizer.} I eyeballed about how large the circle would need to be to fit the size lotion pump in.

Then with a larger drill bit I drilled one hole in the center.

I cut the lid from the large center hole to each of the smaller holes using wire cutters.
Taking the pump I pushed it through the metal so it would fit snug on top of the lid. My original plan was to use glue to secure it but it ended up not needing it.

Cut the pump to fit into the jar if needed.
Fill it up with lotion, soap, or hand sanitizer!
Now you have a dispenser that is far more attractive than some of those plastic bottles.

Spread the love!

  2. I <3 both of these ideas. The mason jar looks awesome but the paranoid klutz in me does not like it sitting so close to the edge of the counter. ;)
